2020 Adaptive Sports Calendar Revealed

Disabled Sports USA (DSUSA), one of the largest multi-sport, multi-disability organizations in the country, serving over 70,000 youth, wounded warriors and adults annually, has revealed its 2020 Adaptive Sports Calendar.

Over 50 different adaptive sports are offered across the country, through more than 135 DSUSA chapters in 40 states, including alpine and Nordic skiing, snowboarding, sled hockey, wheelchair basketball, golf, cycling, swimming, scuba, track & field, archery, climbing, hiking, and more. These sports opportunities are transformative, highlighting the potential in each of us, embodied in the DSUSA motto: “If I can do this, I can do anything!”

To highlight the various adaptive sports available, Disabled Sports USA has produced a 2020 Adaptive Sports Calendar, featuring various athletes, adaptive sports offerings, and local DSUSA chapters across the country. DSUSA solicited images through a nationwide photo contest. After receiving nearly 100 submissions, 13 entries were selected for this year’s calendar. Photographers include Christopher Whiton, Kendal Oakleaf Smith, Carl Scofield, Sam Levitan, Nick Isabella, Jason Cannon, Tyler Eichorst, Roger Smith, Andy Templeton, Berin Klawiter, Lucy Uguccioni, Julie Larame, and Reed Hoffmann.

Athletes include youth as young as 12 years old to Paralympic hopefuls such as Haven Shepherd and Callahan Young, as well as wounded warfighters and other youth and adults with physical disabilities.

Disabled Sports USA’s vision is that “every person, regardless of ability, has an equal opportunity to participate in sports and recreation in their community.” DSUSA’s mission is to provide national leadership and opportunities for individuals with disabilities to develop independence, confidence, and fitness through participation in community sports, recreation and educational programs. Since 1967, the organization has focused on one goal: To improve the lives of wounded warriors, youth and adults with disabilities by providing sports and recreation opportunities.

The calendar also includes several 2020 regional games, a listing of all DSUSA chapters and programs, and other interesting information. To download your copy of the 2020 Adaptive Sports Calendar, click here.
