DREAM Adaptive Recreation

The mission of DREAM Adaptive Recreation is to enhance the quality of life of individuals with disabilities by providing year-round outdoor adaptive recreational opportunities. We support individuals ages 5 to adults with physical, cognitive, intellectual, developmental and sensory challenges.

DREAM programs help individuals discover what is possible. Participants build confidence, cultivate new relationships, and gain independence; skills we hope will positively impact their daily lives.

DREAM acquired adaptive snow skiing equipment in the 1980’s and began offering alpine skiing to persons with disabilities at Whitefish Mountain Resort. Thirty-five years later DREAM provides over 1,000 adaptive lessons & opportunities each year in sports such as alpine skiing & snowboarding, nordic skiing, mountain biking, paddleboarding, kayaking, water skiing & other water sports.

What We Do
We leverage abilities! Trained staff and volunteer instructors help break down barriers to participation, so that everyone has access to the great outdoors. We provide adaptive equipment as needed, and create a safe and fun environment to learn and grow. Every person is unique, and therefore our lessons and experiences are tailored to specific goals and desires.

Who Can Participate
Our program opportunities support individuals ages 5 to adults with a variety of disabilities including those with physical, cognitive, intellectual, developmental and sensory challenges. Participants range from the never-ever looking to learn a new sport or experience a new adventure, to the more advanced athlete looking to try new equipment, refine their skills or reach loftier goals.

We offer unique programming for active duty military and veterans with a disability. Outdoor recreation is a great way to foster connections and encourage healing.

Promoting Inclusion
It is our belief at DREAM that outdoor recreation is something to be shared. We strive to provide lessons for people with disabilities and include family, friends and the community whenever possible. Financial aid scholarships are available to those who could benefit from assistance.
