Position Overview
An internship with Move United provides the opportunity to gain knowledge and professional experience in nonprofit management, membership operations, and adaptive sports programming while helping Move United lead a movement so that no one is left on the sidelines, and everyone gets in the game.
The Member Services Intern will support the day-to-day operations of the Member Services department, gaining hands-on experience in member engagement, onboarding, communications, and program coordination. This role also supports the Warfighters program, giving the intern exposure to grant compliance, Veteran-focused programming, and event coordination for individuals across the country.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Member Services
- Manage and respond to membership-related inquiries, providing support by email and phone to individuals and organizations
- Support the onboarding process for new individual and group members
- Assist with engagement strategies, including resource building, Member Huddles (virtual communities), online forums, and webinars
- Update member organization listings on the Move United website
- Help maintain accurate member records across Salesforce, including data input and analysis
Veteran Programs (Warfighters)
- Support the onboarding of Warfighters by processing Warfighter applications
- Assist with tracking grant deliverables and maintaining records to support program delivery and compliance
- Develop and distribute the monthly Warfighters newsletter and calendar of events
- Manage and respond to Warfighters-related inquiries, providing support by email and phone
- Support planning for the Winter Warfighters Calendar
- Help facilitate the PING golf program for Veterans
- Help support The Hartford Ski Spectacular Warfighter Learn to Ski/Snowboard Program
Internship Period
September – December, (dates to be confirmed by Member Services)
Other periods may be available upon request (please inquire).
Hours
30-40 hours/week during the following time block: Monday-Friday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm EST. Flexible hours to accommodate differing time zones are available.
This internship is remote. A hybrid work environment is available for individuals who can work from the Rockville, MD HQ office.
Compensation
- Adaptive sports training and education
- Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credits available upon request
Intern Qualities
- Flexible and adaptable to change
- Organized with strong multi-tasking abilities
- Comfortable communicating with members, and Veterans by phone and email
- Ability to work well in a remote team environment
Minimum Qualifications
- Background in the field, including formal education or equivalent experience (Preferred)
- Technologically proficient with experience using Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and email/CRM platforms
- Effective communicator, comfortable using a range of communication tools
- Authorized to work in the U.S. and able to pass a background screening
Accepted Interns Will Be Required To
- Complete any training required for the internship
- Maintain weekly meetings with the supervisor
- Participate in a mid- and end-of-internship review
- Be responsible for completing the necessary paperwork, if seeking college credit
