“I’ve lived this mission as a three-time Paralympian, a retired U.S. Army Sergeant, and someone who knows firsthand how access to sport can change a person’s life. Every policy I write, every system I build, and every person I invest in is an opportunity to make this ecosystem stronger for the next athlete who needs it.”
– Kari Ortiz, Move United Director of People and Culture
Kari Ortiz serves as Director of People and Culture at Move United, where she leads efforts to build and sustain the organization’s internal infrastructure. Her work includes overseeing HR strategy, staff development, organizational policy, and workplace culture to ensure Move United’s team is supported, aligned, and positioned for long-term success. She believes that when people thrive internally, that impact extends directly to member organizations and the athletes they serve.
Kari brings a unique perspective to her role as a three-time Paralympian and retired U.S. Army Sergeant, combining lived experience with leadership and service. Recently, she joined a sitting volleyball team and has enjoyed getting back on the court as an athlete. Kari and her family recently welcomed a charcoal Lab puppy, and she enjoys spending time with her husband and son, KJ, who recently started Montessori school.
