POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Summer Programming Intern will get hands-on experience both in the field and in the office. The Summer Season begins mid-May and ends in mid-October. Summer adventures include a ropes course, mountain biking, adaptive biking, rock climbing, rafting, hiking, horseback riding, canoeing, kayaking, and paddle boarding. Through a variety of clinics and training, interns have the opportunity to learn the skills required for each activity we offer to participants. While in the field, interns will eventually become co-instructors for each excursion.

Interns will also gain experience in the office, assisting with daily operations. They will learn what it takes to make a day run smoothly for summer programs at the ASC. Tasks involve organizing participant paperwork and files, welcoming walk-ins, scheduling future participants, and assisting volunteers and staff members in day-to-day logistics. Summer Interns also assist with the Crested Butte Open. It is ASC’s biggest fundraiser and interns will learn what it takes to fundraise for a major non-profit. Staff, interns, and volunteers work together to make this event a success.

Interns are required to perform their internship in its entirety. A clear driving record with no violations in the last three years is a must. Interns working in the field need to have a current CPR/First Aid Certification.

This is a 40 hour/week position. The position runs from mid-May through mid-October.
